In 2000, the towns of Barnesboro and Spangler became one town -- Northern Cambria.  Before the merger, each town would have a Christmas parade.  Since forming Northern Cambria, the parade alternates, one year it's held in the area formerly known as Spangler, the next year it's in the area formerly known as Barnesboro.  This year's parade was held in the Barnesboro area this past Sunday.  The

One of the most recognizable railroad station marques in the country is this one at Union Station In Denver, CO. It seems like the last week or so has been our monsoon season but I'm not gonna complain because we really ned the water. I started off the week by running over to Prince Gallitzin State Park to drop off some papers at the Park Office.  After leaving the office, I drove along the lake to see what was going on. Sunday we drove to Fort Washington so my wife could attend the Library Manager's Institute at Arcadia University, in Glenside, PA.  On Sunday we visited my wife's nephew and his wife.  On Monday and Tuesday, while she attended meetings, I toured around the area and visited a friend I went to school with.  One of the benefits of living in the woods is the almost endless variety of visitors that we get through the yard at this time of the year, like this Scarlet Tanager -- Piranaga olivacea. Since I cut out some of the undergrowth at the edge of the treeline it is easier to spot the deer as they pass by every few days. Obviously, not all visitors to the back yard are as welcome as the deer.

If it's June it must be time for the Jimmy Stewart Airport Festival held at the Indiana County Airport.  This year the highlights of the show were a B-25J Mitchell Bomber from World War II, a Piper L-21B from the Korean Conflict and a C-123 from the Vietnam War.  Unfortunately, several of the other aircraft that were to be at the show had to cancel due to engine and various other problems. Prince Gallitzin State Park near Patton in Cambria County is the closest of Pennsylvania's 117 State Parks to us.  Glendale Lake covers 1,635 acres with a 26 mile of shoreline. It's one of our favorite places to spend time all year around. This week's photographs were all shot at an antique shop in Duncansville, PA. I got a call from the Tribune-Democrat to go shoot the Appalachian Wagon Train as it toured the area around Prince Gallitzin State Park. Rather than follow the trail and find the train I instead decided to cut them off at the pass so that I could shoot them as they came towards me. And it would have worked out as planned but at the last minute the wagon master choose to take a different trail.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we took off a week and headed to Pickens, SC. As the cards on the cameras get full of photographs, we transfer them to a laptop.
